The Power of Internet
Internet is amazing, I don't quite understand/appreciate it's power until recently. The latest hit in Hong Kong is about a video clip featuring some indecent conversation on a bus between a middle aged man (in his 40s?) and a young man(20 something?).
Despite the fact that the middle aged man coarsely yelled at the young man for the most of the time, he did say something which reflect the life of Hong Konger in an unexpectingly wise manner:
You have pressure, I have it too, why do you provoke me?
Shortly after the video clip was made available on the internet, quite a few Hong Kong friends of mine in my MSN list forwarded the video clip to me, and told me some astonishing aftermyths:
1, It takes just a few days for the widespread of this video clip on the internet, and then almost everyone in Hong Kong heard about/seen the video clip.
2, Hong Kong Newspapers and Magazines featured the video clip as a cover story.
3, It was even reported by a British newspaper.
4, Some wise guys composed songs about Hong Kong city life, using the voice of that middle aged man in the video clip as rap.
Awhile back, I read an article in Time magazine, talking about the power and influence of blogger and blog. As I understand it, blog is probably more popular in the western world, for Hong Konger, however, online forum seems to be more popular among them. But they both are extremely powerful tools to spread information.
To a certain degree, this incident should gives some faith to those whom believe the effectiveness of internet advertising, all you need is something which could provoke the controversy and concern of the general public. Afterall, Hong Konger (and everyone else in this world) have a primal need for this kind of things [parody?].
For those whom read Chinese, below is the link of "wikipedia" on "Bus Uncle" incident and information:
